Rover 75 - Technical fault with starting...ADVICE NEEDED PLE

I am driving Rover 75 2.0 petrol model 2000, I have had this car 1 month, odometer 105,000 klm. Recently it was serviced and since then I have had problems with starting.
There is a new battery. This was recently replaced after it was found to be in a terrible mess, which was not picked up at service!
The starter motor turns, all electrical is ok. The problem is that regularly the starter does not ignite the engine. This happens mostly when engine is warm, starter turns over but no ignition. I can keep trying and then eventually ( anything up to 30 mins later) it will suddenly start again. Even after 1 hour driving, sometimes the engine will restart immediately, but most times not at all. If left standing for say 30 mins, then still warm, an immediate restart is not usually possible.
the Rover mechanics here are having some different ideas on "maybe" whats wrong. "Maybe its the sensor on top of crankshaft" "maybe its the fuel pump in rear" the computer read suggests "maybe its the temp sensor that controls fuel mix"
Initially, a week ago, it only occurred every few times I started, but now it is very regularly occuring, to the point I cannot rely on the car anymore.

Yesterday again it was in garage for a day, but they could not fix it, and as soon as I arrived home after 30 mins drive, again it wont start until motor cold.
I would really appreciate some advice and input........

Hi Ruud,

the camshaft sensor might be the cause of the problem.

have they checked the car is picking up the signal from the chip in the key?
is the battery flat in the key?have you tried the spare key?
if the car is not recognising the key the engine would turn over but would not start

I finally can start my car again on a proper way. The camshaft sensor was faulty. Thanks for the help.
