You probably know this already...but just in case

Hi all
You probably know this already but just in case you don't. Having only just got the 75 I was giving it a very close inspection this afternoon and found what I consider to be possible rust traps. Behind the front wheels there are three screws holding on a piece of rubber where a mud flap would probably go. I found quite a bit of mud and rubbish packed in behind the rubber bit. I only found it by accident when I saw a minute little worm go into the space between the rubber and wing. As I say you probably already know this but its worth posting just in case.

Can anyone tell me is the 75 painted with a different type of paint from the 45? Water just runs straight off this car and its dry very quickly even on flat surfaces. There is very little beading of water.

sounds to me your car was given a coating of "supashield" when it was sold,i think it cost about £300 to have done as a dealer extra

Supashield is wonderful stuff. I find that water runs straight off without leaving marks and dust does not cling so car looks good all the time. The dealers usually offer it pre-delivery but their pricing is a rip-off. In Australia you can buy the two bottles for about 34 euros, and they will do 2 large sedans. The first bottle prepares the surface (after being "Prepsol"ed unless the car is new or near-new) and the second bottle is the protection agent. It is easier to apply than a wax polish. Took me about 90 minutes to do my 75 - dealer wanted 400 euros.

Thanks for the replies..........this supasheild, does it need to be polished with the same stuff or does any good polish do?

Supashield is used instead of polish. It reacts chemically with the paint to form a very smooth surface (it or similar is used on Grand Prix cars, power boats etc, to reduce drag). If the car is new just apply in 2 stages like a wax. If not new, use Prepsol to take off old polish etc., cut and polish to get back to good shiny paint and then apply. Can last up to 3 years depending on the climate and protects against bird poo, salt, bugs etc. Good stuff.
