I have recently purchased my 75 and am over the moon with it

I also would like to upgrade to a cd changer to my system and would like to know if any, what would be compatible with what i have

I tried rover but they wany £333 for the changer and £94 for fitting, which i think is a bit much considering i can get a decent aftermarket mp3 cd changer for less

if i can avoid altering my fascia though it would be a bonus

any help would be appreciated

Hi,

My 75 was fitted with the Rover (Alpine) CD Changer when I bought it, but I have a few comments which might be of interest.

The usual location for the standard dealer fit changer seems to be the glove box. I wanted to recover this space so have moved it to a location under the front passenger seat.

I would say that the task of fitting the changer (in either location) is very easy and assuming that you are reasonably practical I would suggest fitting it yourself and saving this part of the cost.

The Harmony radio pops out relatively easily providing that you can get the release tools that fit through the two slots at the bottom. There are also a couple of screws at the top located behind the hood trim.

The connection cable (control and digital audio data) then plugs into the back of the radio/tape head unit using a connector block. With the head unit removed it is easy to route the cable behind the central controls console, into the fuse box area and then into the glove box or back along the central tunnel and under the front seat.

Depending on the CD changer that you choose, it seems that you might need an interface unit to convert the control signals from the head unit (and steering wheel switches) into equivalents compatible with the particular auto-changer.

When trying to locate an extension cable (I ended up making my own), I did various web searches and turned up a number of suppliers offering packages suitable for retro-fitting with the Philips Harmony head unit.

Got mine from above,exellent servicequality product, next day delivery,i bought the alpine option but iam sure the sony one is good to
