International Rover 75 / ZT meeting 18-21 May 2023 (Ascension weekend) in Baden Württemberg (Southwest Germany)

From Thursday, May 18 (Ascension Day) to Sunday morning, May 21, 2023, the Club Seventyfive is organizing a meeting for its members and users in the southwest of Germany, in the state of Baden Württemberg.

Central location will be the Dorint Hotel in Durbach. For many of you, who also attended in 2018, this will be a revisit. Although, at the time the hotel was a Best Western hotel and now it belongs to the Dorint group.
However, the program is something completely different!

Program:

Thursday May 18, 2023 (Ascension Day):

Arrival at ± 4.00 p.m. in the Dorint Hotel in Durbach.

Dinner together in the restaurant; followed by the annual membership meeting.
Open End of the evening.

Friday May 19, 2023:

We are expected at 9.45 a.m. at the museum “Conservatoire des Transports” in Wissembourg, Rue de Lauterbourg Altenstadt, 67160 Wissembourg. From Durbach it is more than an hour's drive – 90 km / 56 miles.
Here we have a guided tour in German and English at 10.00 a.m. – we can park our cars in the courtyard.

On more than 8000 m2 you will find more than 180 different (historical) vehicles, a very special collection!
Subsequently at 11.45 a.m. we are offered a ride through the beautiful wine region of the Elsaß with an old-timer bus or buses through picturesque towns such as Rott - Oberhoffen les Wissembourg - Steinseltz - Riedseltz - Bremmelbach and we stop at a restaurant at 12.30 p.m.
Here we are treated to traditional Flammkuchen, a dessert and coffee.

At 2.30 p.m. we drive via Hunspach (most beautiful and most popular village of France 2020) to Schoenenbourg (Maginot Line)

At 3.00 p.m. visit and guided tour in the Maginot Line. This French defense line was built between 1930 and 1938 on the border with Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany and in the south with Italy and was supposed to protect the French against a new surprise attack by the Germans. The northern part of the Maginot Line consists of 22 artillery forts and 36 infantry forts.

We get a very interesting insight of ± 2.5 hours into the history of the 30s and 40s of the last century.

(An elevator makes it possible to do 90% of the tour of 2.5 km without stairs)

5.30 p.m.: return by bus(es) to Wissembourg.

6:00 p.m.: departure back to the hotel by private cars.

7.30 p.m.: dinner together at the hotel. Open End of the evening.

Saturday May 20, 2023:

After breakfast we leave for Baden-Baden (± 45 minutes – 50 km / 31 miles)

At 9:45 a.m. a guided city tour in German, English and Dutch.

In 2021, the city was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the historic spas of Europe and was founded more than 2000 years ago. The hot water spring with temperatures of up to 68 degrees Celsius was already known by the ancient Romans and at that time the place was called Aquae. In the nineteenth century the place was called the summer capital of Europe. In that period, many wealthy people from all over Europe came to Baden-Baden to relax.
In World War II, the city was spared from allied bombing; afterwards she served as the headquarters of the French zone of occupation.
Our tour includes the world famous casino.
Duration approx. 2 – 2.5 hours.

The rest of the day is at leisure. Baden-Baden has a beautiful city center with a high-quality range of shops and many cozy restaurants and terraces. A city with flair!
Well worth a visit is the Fabergé museum https://faberge-museum.de/
The 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy is all about a Fabergé egg!
The Fabergé Museum in Baden-Baden is the first and still only museum dedicated to the life's work of the famous Russian tsar jeweler Carl Peter Fabergé.

Also worth a visit is the Rose Garden https://www.baden-baden.com/sehensw.....10-44bb-9b91-c10a9ee9d51c

7.00 p.m.: dinner together in the hotel. Open End of the evening.

Winken

a small supplement for those who have a little trouble walking; see also above in the invitation.
There is an elevator in the Maginot Line that makes it possible to do 90% of the 2.5 km guided tour without stairs.

Regards,

Pim
