Hi All,
I live in the UK. I have just bought my Rover 75 1.8 Club, its pure class! I'm only 32 so my mates are making fun of me driving what they call, a pipe & slippers car. Anyway who cares I love it!!
Great site and I hope you can someone can help?
I would like to replace the original Phliips Harmony radio for the Alpine Symphony. I would rather upgrade to this and not a standard radio because its more in line with the dash design.
1. Is it a straight swap without any other wiring?
2. Does anyone know how I can obtain a Symphony radio, new or used?
Great site!!
Regards
Neil

Hi IdeaInna,
welcome at our site and congratulations to your Rover SeventyFive!!!
I think our member ""hutsch"" can answer all your questions around the radio sets better than I can do because he is our expert for the SeventyFive's electronic features.
As far as I know there is a difference regarding the antenna between the Harmony and the Alpine Symphony which has an effect to the receipt of the radio frequences. May be hutsch knows a solution.
If you decide to choose the Alpine Symphony: SLE (= Symphony Loudness Enabler) is recommended. It is a little ""chip"" (sorry, no better description) which influences the sound of the Symphony by increasing the basses and the whole dynamics of the sound.
For more information I suggest to write a message to hutsch, see ""Priv. Mitteilungen"".
BTW: See you in Luxembourg???
Regards, Zinki

Hi Idealnna
and welcome to the community.
Zinki is right, Hutsch is our electronics engineer and he will be able to answer your question satisfactory. However, it might well be that he is on Easter holidays and thus it may take him a couple days to answer.
Otherwise you can always send a private message to him.

I was just thinking off replacing my 1 month all Alpine with a standard CD/Radio with MP3 playback. I just can't cope with the idea of a new car with a RC as standard. Who use K7 these days?
Is is indeed a very good radio with exceptionel reception. Lovely great display. The 6CD player in the glovebox also takes up all the space. I'm from tghe Belgium coast. |
