Upgrade CDT 116PK to CDTi 131

I'v read several message about the upgrade that excist to convert 116PK CDT to 131PK CDTi version.

Is it really only the programming (chip tuning) that is altered to obtain the higher power?
It seems that the engine remains untouched.
Do engines with auto-boxes can cope with the higher Nm torque 260 <>300 ?
Are parts replaced for it or is it just reprogramming?

Any one done it already?

you questions have already been discussed a couple of times. Unfortunately only on the german board.
The original Rover 75 CDT specs are
85kW/115PS 260Nm
One of the members I think Peter75 mentioned once that the Rover can only cope with 280 Nm. But I think that's not really correct.
As I'm planning to do the tuning for my car as well and because I'm very cautious I was collecting a bit of information from the web and my car dealer. The info I got is that the modification is done purely through chip tunning. Means only flashing the chip, no other parts are touched.
There are many tuners on the market and it really breaks down to the money/value matter. Below is some information from german tuners.

1. Rover Tuning
96kW/131PS 300Nm price 750-800?
Not sure if the official registration is included.

108kW/146PS 302 Nm price 699? registration 250? to 500?

3. www.wetterauer.at
110kW/150PS 330Nm price 586?+72? work+ 240EUR guarantee without

As you can see even the original Rover tuning is pushing the torque up to 300Nm. So it seems the engine can handle that. By the way the BMW 320D engine is very similar and can handle 280-330Nm.
I'm not sure where you are from. So it might not be necessary for you to have the enhancement registered. Check the local tuners. You can also check the web sites listed above. I think one or two of them offer english content as well.
Between the german tuners www.wetterauer.de has the strongest tuning kit but is also the priciest one. The quality of the tuners is very similar. The only difference I heard apart from the measurable figures is the smoothness of the engine when started the first time in the morning especially in the winter time. It seems some of the tuned chips are working smoother then others. As soon as the engine is warm it does not really matter anymore. A bit more smoke when accelarating at full throttle. And a bit louder between 2000-3500 speed-torque were mentioned by some members who already modified their cars. I made an appointment for my car with RDI for the 17th march. I can't resist the special price .

Bonjour Chers Amis,
Sur ma Rover 75 cdt 116 cv j'ai installé un boitier additionnel sur le boitier d'origine. La marque de ce boitier est ""tuningbox""(fabrication Belge). Une fois installé, la voiture gagne en couple et devient beaucoup plus agréable.
Ce système ne touche pas au boitier d'origine et agit seulement sur la gestion de l'injection. De plus, il est indécelable lors des révisions et peut être démonté très facilement. Il n'y a que deux broches à brancher. J'ai parcouru plus de 50.000 km avec ce système et je n'ai eu aucun problème de fiabilité.
Conclusion : ce boitier apporte un avantage indéniable à la Rover 75 116cv.

Dear friends

On my 75 CDT 116hp i fixed an additional box on the original.The box is a belgian brand called ""Tuningbox"".Once fixed the car gains in newtonmeters and is a lot more easy to drive.

This system doesn't interfear with any original system coz it only acts on the injection managment.Furthermore it can be removed very easily there are only two cables to fix or remove.This is important when the car runs still under warranty and there's a maintainance scheduled at the service station.
Until now i drove 50000km without any breakdown using the tuningbox.

Conclusion: This tuningbox offers a really improvement to the CDT 116hp.
