Due to the introduction of DVB-T TV broadcasting and the phase out of the old broadcast system soon, the Rover 75 TV system will be unable to access channels. It is already reduced greatly with only 3 analogue senders left in Hamburg now. Does anyone know of a good digital decoder that can be fitted into a Rover 75 and intergated into the current system?
Will miss my veiwing during the waits!

In this BMW forum you can find a very detailed do-it-yourself manual for installing the Technisat Digi-Pal 1 receiver. Unfortunately it is in German, but as you are in Hamburg, I suppose you can understand it, can't you?

No prob McM. If you get stuck with the translation, just give me a call.
My email is (ch.brand _at_ web.de)
Although the installation is quite simple. Here's a short summary:
First extract the infrared eye of the DigiPal and put some long cables on it to be able to place it somewhere in the front. Otherwise you won't be able to change channels without opening the boot.
Then connect the DigiPal to the AV-input of the tv-tuner of your car as explained here http://www.r75.info/ftp_root/admins/hutsch/howto_hilinevideo.pdf (you'll need the "Dietz 1251"-adaptor lead or some BMW connection cables (item no. can be found in the BMW forum)). Then you have to connect a suitable aerial to the receiver.
Finally connect the DigiPal to +12V and ground and mount it somewhere in your boot. When switching to AV on your incar-tv you should be able to watch digital tv.
I hope I didn't forget anything.
PS: You also might want to disable the "no tv while driving" function, but that is yet another topic...
Gruß aus Berlin,

Hi ChB
Thanks again.
The more I read the more I think it is out of my range re:being able to do it myself. I can solder and I can do a bit of wiring but I am not too confident able all this.
I will probably get an an auto audio expert to help sort it when I have time to do it. The solution sounds good though. I also found an advertisment by a Berin group (in your town) who install units into cars which I may follow up later.
Some other info through ebay adverts : http://search.ebay.de/DVB-T-Auto
Regards and thanks again
