Verfasst am: 27-02-2007 01:33 Titel: Strange "problem"(engine cutoff) with Rover 75 CDT |
|
|
Hey,
I bought this baby last week .It got 96000km under its waist...but I noticed something quite strange.
If I am driving on 3rd gear with about 1000rpm and press the acceleration pedal to the ground, then start accelerating just on 3000rpm - and the engine cuts off (about 5-6 sec of maximum pressed pedal) and i have to start it with the key again :( .
When I'm accelerating and switching the gears 2-3-4, everything is normal, i.e. everything's good if i dont press down the accelerator to the maximum.
This happens only on 2nd and 3rd gears.
The other thing is, that when the oil was changed by the previous owners , they did not reset the service interval timer and now there is an OIL CHANGE warning (-7800km).What I would like to know is whether the engine 'cut off' is a problem or it is some kind of protection for the engine? Hope for the latter..
Thanks in advance :)

Hi
That's a common problem with Rover diesels.
Your in tank pump is not working properly. Under hard acceleration the engine cuts and has to be restarted.
Check first, if the problem only appears as long you are below 1 quarter of tank level.
Otherwise let change the in tank pump under the rear seat. About 450 Euros.
Regards
Benny |

The problem appeared when the tank was full :(
I want to ask you if I change the fuel filter and add lots of fuel improvements (don't know the word - for cleaning the fuel system) , and drive always with more than half full tank.
Can this preserve the fuel pump, or some how fix it's work ?
Thanks. |

Today I went to a repair shop. They connect to the computer and the Error codes for the engine was only for the CAM sensor . After they cleaned all error codes and reset the service interval the problem appeared again.
This time the error was " rail pressure low " .
I left the car there so they can check what is the problem. They said that have never had a problem of this type.
This only appears when the car is in motion. Never when stopped even if the engine is at 4500-5000 rpm.
PS. today at 2nd gear i accelerate till 4500rpm and when shift to 3rd and press again the accelerator at about 3000 rpm the engine switch off |

Any answer to your problem? My ZT-T+ is doing exactly the same thing. |

Hi , I hope i can fix this problem later today. I have to replace 2 injectors. I already replaced 1st and 4th and today i have to change 2nd and 3rd injectors. After 2 months in different repair shops (they change both pupms, MAP sensor, checked the fuel pipes, HP pump) and finally i went to a Bosch diesel center and the guys there told me that this problem came from the injectors.
When injector is out of order it sprays more fuel in the cylinder and than the rail pressure drops and the computer shuts down the engine to protect the high pressure pump from fuel starvation.
You can check your injectors at a bosch center, most of them have machinery to test the injectors . They take them out and put it into the machine to test them. Some times they can refurbish the injectors some times not. If the repair is not successful you can change them with new one .
Also Bosch can provide with refurbished injectors from their factory in Germany for 250EUR without VAT and also you get back 50 EUR from the old ones(when you give them back). A new one is about 350EUR without VAT. Both came with 1 year warranty.
Hope this is our problem cause it's already 8 month with car for me and I haven't solve this . :)
PS. Remind me to write next week with further details.
Wish me luck ![augenzwinkern](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon12.gif) |

The injectors replacement didn't solve the problem :( Only the engine start working better. There is no more black smoke coming out from the exaust even when accelerating.
If you find a cure for this problem please write cause i already give up any hope :((((( |

Can you please list exactly what has been changed. Then perhaps I can start on mine with the things you haven't done.
Also, have you fitted any performance upgrades before the problem started?
Many thanks

Have you changed the Fuel Pressure Sensor, the Fuel Pressure Regulator, and the Differential Pressure Valve?
